Several months ago Georgia Republicans announced a new partnership designed to preserve and grow the majority in the Senate. Building on former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler’s Greater Georgia – a voter mobilization group – the Georgia Senate Majority Caucus launched two new leadership committees who will be working toward the success of Republicans across the state. One of the committees – Citizens for a Greater Georgia– represents a partnership between the Georgia State Senate Majority Caucus and former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler.
Thursday morning, Citizens for a Greater Georgia announced that it has made over 200,000 voter contacts since launching its statewide field program in June. The program, which is currently anchored by two-dozen paid field operatives, is dedicated to mobilizing disenfranchised, disengaged, and newly registered voters in key State Senate districts across the state. Of the 200,000 reached, 46,522 voters were reached at their homes and 156,165 voters were reached by phone.
“In just a few months, the Citizens for a Greater Georgia team has built, from the ground-up, a robust field operation that is working every day to preserve and grow our Republican State Senate Majority and keep our state strong,” said State Senate Majority Caucus Chairman John F. Kennedy. “Throughout the summer, we have reached hundreds of thousands of voters – and as we enter into the final 80 days of the 2022 election cycle, we are expanding our team across the state – working on behalf of our State Senators, and Republicans up and down the ballot. I am deeply proud of the effort our team has put in on the ground so far – and look forward to delivering the results of this hard work come November.”
The committee also reported the following results so far:
· 14 Days of Action for canvassing and phone banking
· 13 community events with Republican groups, candidates, and campaigns
· Dozens of new volunteer recruits
This committee is following the model built by Loeffler, which has reported tremendous success. According to Loeffler, data from the 2022 midterm elections showed that conservatives have experienced “a significant resurgence in participation and mobilization, particularly compared to the last midterm election in Georgia.”
Loeffler, said that Conservative turnout in the 2022 Primary increased by 98 percent over the 2018 primary, exemplified by triple-digit increases in voting by diverse communities. The report shows that not only is overall election turnout among conservatives significantly higher, but many “low-propensity” and minority voters have chosen to vote for the Republican Party, including those who did not vote in 2020 and 2018.
According to the numbers in this Republican midterm primary, Asian voter turnout increased by 185 percent, Hispanic voter turnout increased by 184 percent, and Black voter turnout increased by 101 percent.
