Monday was the first day you could request an absentee ballot for Georgia’s November 8th general election. You can submit applications for absentee ballots online, by email, mail, fax, or in person up until October 28th. The submissions go to your local elections office and voters may utilize the Absentee Ballot Request portal on My Voter Page. The Secretary of State’s office also says voters can utilize BallotTrax for the general election, first introduced in 2020. BallotTrax allows voters to track their ballot in real time to increase confidence in the vote-by-mail process.
Election offices cannot mail ballots to voters in Georgia before October 10th, and voters should be aware that while there may be a lag between when they request their ballot an dwhen they receive it, there is no need to submit multiple requests.
By the way, consider these factors:
· Getting an absentee ballot will look different this year, starting with the application.
· You must include your voter identification information this time, which means the number on your driver’s license or a free state ID.
· There are also places to list your email and phone number so your local officials can contact you with any questions.
· Your absentee ballot must be received by the local elections office before polls close at 7 p.m. on November 8th.
