“The Democrats and their allies in the liberal media will do or say anything— no matter how despicable— to distract from the abject failures of Joe Biden and (Georgia Democrat U.S. Senator) Raphael Warnock,” Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer tells InsiderAdvantage following a report that alleged GOP Senate candidate Herschel Walker paid an ex-girlfriend to get an abortion in 2009.
Former Georgia GOP chairman and Faith and Freedom founder Ralph Reed tweets that “attacking Herschel Walker with a 13-year-old anonymous allegation won’t move voters upset by inflation, economy, gas prices and failed Biden policies. … Warnock is tied to Biden w/ 38 percent job approval in GA. That matters more than the politics of personal destruction.”
Reed also says he expects “100 percent” that evangelical Christians will stand by Walker.
Former President Donald Trump, a longtime Walker friend who urged him to run, says the Georgia football legend has been “slandered and maligned by the Fake News Media and obviously, the Democrats. Interestingly, I’ve heard many horrible things about his opponent, Raphael Warnock, things that nobody should be talking about, so we don’t. Herschel has properly denied the charges against him, and I have no doubt he is correct,” the former president said on Truth Social.
“They are trying to destroy a man who has true greatness in his future, just as he had athletic greatness in his past,” Trump continued. “It’s very important for our Country and the Great State of Georgia that Herschel Walker wins this Election.”
Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., who leads the National Republican Senatorial Committee, reminds voters that the smear is “orchestrated by Democrats who fear they will lose control of the Senate in the Nov. 8 midterm elections.”
“When the Democrats are losing, as they are right now, they lie and cheat and smear their opponents…. They know they are on the verge of losing the Senate, and they know that Herschel Walker is winning, so they have cranked up the smear machine,” Scott said in a statement.
The senator says that last-minute smears against Walker reminds him of the vicious, untruthful allegations unsuccessfully hurled against conservative Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas. Scott says, “They will not work.”
