Officials at Stone Mountain Park have taken a big step forward in their mission to revamp the park’s museums and exhibits, selecting Alabama-based Warner Museums to oversee the construction of a new exhibit that will embrace the South’s complex racial history.  State law prevents historic monuments, such as many of the Civil War and Confederate ones around the park, from being removed.  But park officials wanted to make sure that the area’s history is fully explained, for better or worse.  And there will surely be more arguments and controversy surrounding the new exhibit’s content, but that’s ok according to Bill Stephens, Stone Mountain Memorial Association CEO.  “If some people on both sides are a little uncomfortable, then you’re probably doing something right,” he said.
