Today marks the 36th day of the 2023 Legislative Session, and things are beginning to move quickly under the Gold Dome. Lawmakers will convene today through Wednesday for legislative days 36-38 with the last day of session less than two weeks away on Wednesday, March 29. Several key bills passed out of committee last week including a new version of online sports betting, legislation creating a framework for electric vehicles and surprise billing.

House Bill 406 sponsored by state Rep. Rick Jasperse, R-Jaspe, passed out of the Senate Committee on Regulated Industries and Utilities. It would provide for the regulation of certain electricity used as motor fuel in electric vehicles and would allow for the sale of electricity from charging stations by kilowatt hour and sets the effective date to authorize the Department of Agriculture to deploy these regulations starting on January 1, 2025.
