U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-GA, has introduced legislation that will expand free access to counseling and mental health services for Georgia’s active-duty military families. Ossoff teamed with Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-ND, to sponsor the ‘Military Families Mental Health Services Act’ that was filed late last week.
According to Ossoff, the bipartisan bill would allow the Secretary of Defense to waive out-of-pocket expenses for military families on TRICARE for their first three outpatient mental health visits per year, lowering costs and helping families access the treatment they need – “especially vital mental health care services.”
