Savannah’s version of the Atlanta BeltLine, Tide-to-Town, is set to embark on an aggressive expansion plan – and it’s all thanks to out-of-towners.  A 2% hotel/motel tax passed by the General Assembly earlier this year has already yielded $10 million for the trail project, which seeks to connect different neighborhoods within the city.  While Savannah’s downtown area has already seen its boom with the revitalization hotspots like the Plant Riverside District, Tide-to-Town will connect more overlooked areas of the city such as the Southside, priming them for investment and growth.  And it’s not just for tourists – Tide-to-Town’s miles of walking and biking paths will get cars off the roads and residents to exercise more all across the Hostess City of the South.
