Perry, Georgia in Houston County is busy preparing for next month’s Georgia National Fair and its expected 560,000+ visitors set to arrive in town over its 11 days. Georgia’s official, state sponsored fair will celebrate its 34th anniversary when it kicks off on October 5th and will feature its usual array of concerts, rides and attractions, food stalls and livestock shows. One of the biggest events in Middle Georgia annually, the fair generates a massive economic impact and also raises thousands of dollars for local charities. The Georgia National Fair Food Drive, for instance, will offer coupons to fair-goers who bring non-perishable food items, helping stock the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank ahead of the holiday season.
