New allegations and discoveries regarding embattled Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her special prosecutor (and alleged lover) Nathan Wade keep piling up. Bank statements contained in a court filing last Friday revealed that Wade purchased two airline tickets in Willis’ name, backing up allegations made in a motion by one of former President Donald Trump’s co-defendant Michael Roman that she benefited from the lucrative contract she awarded Wade when he took her on luxury trips.
The former president and 18 others were charged in August 2023 in relation to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election result. Trump has consistently denied all charges against him by Willis and repeatedly says they are part of a Democrat political witch hunt aimed at derailing him as the GOP frontrunner in the 2024 presidential race. The allegations were first made when Roman filed a motion accusing Willis of an “improper, clandestine personal relationship” with Wade. The BBC said that, according to Roman, this resulted in “the special prosecutor, and, in turn, the district attorney, profiting significantly from this prosecution at the expense of the taxpayers.”
In a related development, an angry Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis piled on, saying that “all Fulton County citizens and taxpayers deserve clear and truthful answers” from Willis, who he earlier noted has been “relatively obstinate” in answering questions from commissioners. Ellis plans to investigate.
Then there’s this embarrassing item that has emerged. In a 2022 interview that has just been unearthed, Willis vowed never to date her employees. “I will certainly not be choosing to date people that work under me,” Willis told the Patricia Crayton Show while campaigning for district attorney. “It is certainly inappropriate for the No. 1 law officer in this state. …”
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee has scheduled an evidentiary hearing for February 15th – and set a February 2nd deadline for Willis to respond to allegations she is in an inappropriate, conflict-of-interest relationship with Wade.
