New legislation with bi-partisan support would allow motorists to refuse to sign for traffic tickets. Rep. Yasmin Neal, D-Jonesboro, says she recently introduced House Bill 1054 that comes following the death of a motorist last fall after he declined to sign an Atlanta Police Department traffic ticket.  His refusal led to a confrontation and then a minor scuffle in which the motorist was tased – he later died from his injuries.

Co-signers on the bill are: Rep. Bill Hitchens, R-Rincon; Rep. Ken Vance, R-Milledgeville; Rep. Scott Holcomb, D-Atlanta
