On February 12th, 1733 James Oglethorpe arrived with the first colonists at the site of what would become Georgia’s first city – Savannah.  Today marks the 291st anniversary of that landing, and the Georgia Historical Society is celebrating Georgia Day through an online program that explores the colony’s founding and early development.

You can watch the full video from GHS HERE, it features greetings from friends and leaders across the state, this presentation is aligned with Georgia Standards of Excellence and includes classroom resources for guided listening for middle and high school students.
