Calling it “a key piece in our fight to restore the rule of law and get criminal illegal aliens off our streets,” Rep. Mike Collins, R-GA, spoke from the well and encouraged his peers to pass his “Laken Riley Act.” The legislation, which gives Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and state governments more tools in the fight against illegal alien crime, passed the House overwhelmingly late last week 251-170, with 37 Democrats joining all Republicans in support.

The vote came just ahead of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address.
