Could this be the year for a new school choice bill in Georgia? With the support of House Leadership – including Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones, R-Milton, and Speaker Jon Burns, R-Newington, the House passed Senate Bill 233 Thursday, 91-82, with one vote to spare. Burns didn’t cast a ballot but could have if needed.

Seven Republicans and one Democrat who opposed a similar measure last year flipped to support it after a number of changes were made in the House Higher Education Committee Wednesday.
