A bipartisan bill recently passed the U.S. Senate that will create new judgeships in the Northern District of Georgia – and is designed to reduce case backlogs, prosecute dangerous criminals, and secure justice for innocent Georgians.
Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-GA, says the Judicial Understaffing Delays Getting Emergencies Solved (JUDGES) Act (JUDGES) will help reduce Federal court wait time in Georgia. Under this bill, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia would see two new Judgeships added in 2027 and 2033, which has courthouses in Atlanta, Gainesville, Newnan and Rome.
