The illegal alien who tried to rape and then killed nursing student Laken Riley on the University of Georgia campus was found guilty yesterday on all counts and received a life prison term without parole.  Many critics say he should have received the death penalty, especially since the details that emerged from the trial are horrible.

Jose Ibarra as seen in court

Killer Jose Ibarra, along with his brother, belong to the vicious Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang— the same criminal crew that forcefully occupied a string of apartment complexes in Colorado. It also was disclosed that Ibarra got special treatment as an illegal in New York City — free housing, meals, medical care, and the works, along with a free flight to his destination of choice.

In September 2023 Ibarra and his roommate stayed at New York City’s Roosevelt Hotel, repurposed as a “humanitarian center” for asylum seekers. It was there when they requested a “humanitarian flight” to Atlanta.

Such flights are typically organized by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to assist illegal migrants in reaching areas where they have support networks.  As the New York Post editorialized, “His entire journey to Georgia was financed by either the NGO industrial complex, which grows rich off government contracts, or else by the government (i.e. taxpayers) itself. That puts the lie to the Biden administration’s claims that migrants pay for their own flights — this one didn’t.”

More shocking courtroom details emerged. Ibarra apparently went to Athens to try to kill people, not just young Laken, but at least one other innocent woman, too.

Here’s the New York Post again: “It draws attention to the fact that ‘humanitarian’ is a pretty relative term. Was it humanitarian for Laken Riley that this accused killer got a free flight to her hometown? Was it humanitarian to her grieving family? The free flights became ‘humanitarian’ flights because someone lobbied for them. None of these illegals-enabling NGOs, let alone the Catholic bishops, the pope, and other clerical scolds who lecture the public about ‘welcoming the stranger,’ have said, or will say, a thing about this humanitarian issue.”

President-elect Donald Trump’s designated “border czar,” Tom Homan, responded to the murder case verdict. He said the entire Biden-Harris open border policy “is an inhuman crime with victims all around.” Homan declares that sanctuary areas for illegals – like Athens-Clarke County where the murder occurred— will be targeted by federal deportation agents whether local authorities like it or not. Furthermore, he warns that mayors and/or other local officials who hinder the arrest and deportation of illegal immigrants can be arrested and charged with an “obstruction of justice felony.”
