Last week Senate Bill 68, Gov. Brian Kemp’s prized tort reform bill, passed the House by a 91-82 margin, with zero votes to spare. But with some GOP holdouts opposed, it was a trio of Democrat lawmakers who actually got the bill across the finish line, much to the chagrin of their party colleagues. Democratic state Reps. Michelle Au of Johns Creek, Mack Jackson of Sandersville and Carl Gilliard of Savannah all voted ‘yes’ on the bill, drawing fierce criticism from Dem leadership. The bickering got so bad, in fact, that Jackson says he’s considering flipping parties completely and joining the GOP. Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?
Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger. In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities. Gov.
