Until this week, the American people were set to see the highest tax hike in history when President Trump’s landmark Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expired in December.
Not only did House Republicans take a major step to prevent this from happening, but we also paved the way for President Trump’s full agenda to be enacted, which is exactly what Georgians demanded when we sent him back to Washington in November.
President Biden drove this country into a ditch. Record inflation, sky-high interest rates, an unsecure southern border, turmoil abroad, runaway government spending, and American energy weakness defined the last four years, and we are still reeling from their consequences. President Trump inherited a mess, and we are clawing this nation back to the prosperity we had during his first term, when inflation was low, the border was secure, and our nation was energy independent. That’s why it is not just important, but critical that we deliver one big, beautiful bill that will put the United States back on track and reestablish the American Dream.
I’m proud to say that we in Congress are getting this done. On Thursday, we passed the budget blueprint, which unlocks the ability for Congress to find savings and direct funding towards President Trump’s mandate.
In this bill are instructions for Congress to identify $1.5 trillion in savings, which I submit can be accomplished by identifying waste, fraud, and abuse, eliminating duplicative programs, and making our government more efficient. We are also going to direct funding towards our southern border, ensuring those brave law enforcement agents have the tools they need to keep us safe. On top of that, we will prioritize unleashing American energy dominance and extending the Trump Tax Cuts, which puts another $1,500 back in the average Georgia families’ pocket.
Oh, and Biden’s woke DEI and Green New Deal initiatives? Consider them dead in the water.
After four years of spineless leadership, it is refreshing to have an administration with a plan and a vision. Last week, we saw a better-than-expected jobs report. This week, CPI, which is a measure of inflation, exceeded expectations as well. Energy prices as down 20% since President Trump took office, and we have nations lining up to make better trade deals that will benefit the American worker.
Trump’s economic plan is working, and this one big, beautiful bill will only increase his ability to Make America Great Once Again. Contrast this with the Washington Democrat party, which has no leader, no vision, and no message, and it is crystal clear that We, the People sent the right person back to D.C. to fight against the bureaucracy and defend hard working Americans.
This is our opportunity to deliver what will be one of the most consequential pieces of legislation in our nation’s history, and I pledge to you that House Republicans are united and ready to meet the moment.
It truly is a new day in America.
