The state of Georgia flexed its football muscle at the NFL draft over the weekend, with 23 former high school players drafted, the third most of any state. Collins Hill’s Travis Hunter, who won last year’s Heisman Trophy at Colorado, was selected second overall. UGA, unsurprisingly, led the way with seven homegrown players drafted (out of 13 overall). Carr joins LSU football fight
In the South, college football is religion – and now it’s politics too. Members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) are furious with LSU over its attempts to sign players already in the NFL to come back to college to play for the Tigers. On Wednesday, Attorney General Chris Carr, (presumably at the behest of some big names at UGA) urged the SEC to take “all measures available” against LSU. Thursday, the league heeded that advice, suing LSU Head Coach Lane Kiffin. The legal quagmire pitting the conference against itself has LSU SINKING…
