Cobb County Superior Court Clerk Connie Taylor, a Democrat elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024, is finally being indicted on felony charges after years of whistleblower complaints, horrible record-keeping, passport fees she was not permitted to personally keep, and mounting complaints from judges, lawyers and the public. And it was just a year ago that her incompetence and abuse of public office caused the county’s chief judge to declare a “judicial emergency” which set aside filing deadlines and ended penalties for missed hearings.
The county’s judicial system remains crippled by that emergency judicial order while still saddled with a dysfunctional clerk’s office. And to make matters worse, it is alleged that Taylor directed an employee to destroy government emails and other records in response to an open records request. And that would be a felony.
