Republicans are celebrating a victory after a federal judge ordered the Fulton County Board of Commissioners to appoint two Republican-nominated individuals to the county’s elections board despite earlier efforts by commissioners to block them.

In an order handed down Sunday, Senior Superior Court Judge David Emerson said there is nothing in the law that supports the idea that commissioners can veto eligible nominees. Emerson presided over the case after all Fulton County Superior Court Judges recused themselves.
