In the mid-1970s Georgia’s bald eagle population was nearly wiped out, down to one single known nest in the entire state.  Decades of conservation and repopulation efforts have revived the species in the Peach State, but troubles remain.  Avian flu wreaked havoc on the coastal Georgia bald eagle population a couple years ago, and Hurricanes Helene and Milton wiped out dozens of nesting sites.  But the resilient bird is holding strong – this year coastal Georgia alone saw 59 successful nests and 83 eaglets.  Georgia’s bald eagle population is RISING…
