Last week the Savannah City Council voted 5-4 to pass an ordinance banning horse-drawn carriage drivers from operating once temperatures hit 85 degrees.  But carriage companies say the new law would kill off the industry – Savannah hits 85 nearly 150 times per year – and that it’s a “ban in disguise.”  Mayor Van Johnson now says he plans to veto the ordinance, setting up a city council clash ahead of their next meeting at the end of August.  DRIFTING…
