In a time when much of the funding in Congress is passed via continuing resolution (the vaunted “CR”), one of the few major items that has managed to continue finding passage is the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA is what establishes funding levels for the military and expenditures for the Department of Defense. This year’s bill comes to a tally of $892.6 billion.
Among the Georgia delegation, every Democratic representative – and one lone Republican, Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R GA-14) – voted against the bill. The remaining eight members of Georgia’s delegation, all Republicans, voted in favor. Among the many things the bill does, it secures funding for the work at the Savannah River Site, it authorizes $1 billion to combat drug trafficking and provides a 3.8 percent pay increase for members of the military.
