Atlanta City Council elections occur on Nov. 4th, and a race to watch will be for the post of Council president. Candidate Rohit Malhotra, running against two-term Councilwoman Marci Overstreet, is stirring controversy— especially since he has a record of supporting and funding groups that seek to defund and abolish the police. 

The Independent reveals that Malhotra opposed construction of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, even testifying at City Council meetings and supporting the violent protestors who waged arson and vandalism attacks. And it hasn’t gone unnoticed that Malhotra never denounced the attackers.
