President Donald Trump on Monday announced, via Truth Social, a 100% tariff “on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States.” While no specifics have been released, (it would be very difficult to tariff an entire industry) it’s no secret that movie production in the U.S., including Georgia, has been trending down as studios have looked towards Europe for cheaper labor. Industry insiders say they hope the tariff talk could push lawmakers towards instituting some sort of federal tax incentive to bring productions back stateside. Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?
Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger. In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities. Gov.
