The November 18th special election to replace former state Sen. Jason Esteves – now running for governor – has an early frontrunner. Former state Rep. Roger Bruce, a longtime lawmaker who left the House last year after 22 years under the Gold Dome – unveiled the endorsement of former Gov. Roy Barnes along with other Democrat officials at a campaign kickoff event Tuesday. That heavyweight support will make him a formidable candidate to win the Cobb County state Senate District 35, which is so blue it hasn’t even drawn a GOP candidate in recent years. Carr joins LSU football fight
In the South, college football is religion – and now it’s politics too. Members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) are furious with LSU over its attempts to sign players already in the NFL to come back to college to play for the Tigers. On Wednesday, Attorney General Chris Carr, (presumably at the behest of some big names at UGA) urged the SEC to take “all measures available” against LSU. Thursday, the league heeded that advice, suing LSU Head Coach Lane Kiffin. The legal quagmire pitting the conference against itself has LSU SINKING…
