Historic Preservation Grants come as new planning begins

The Georgia State Historic Preservation Office has announced the recipients of federal grant funding for eight communities to support their historic preservation efforts. These grants fund historic resource surveys and outreach efforts, as well as more traditional brick-and-mortar construction or rehabilitation projects. 

Education and tourism promotion are also eligible for the grants, provided by the National Park Service and administered by the State Historic Preservation Office of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. These projects are funded with a match from local governments; federal funding equals 60 percent and local funding is 40 percent.
