Deemed “essential employees,” some 1,200 TSA workers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport are working without pay as a result of the government shutdown. They will receive backpay once the government reopens, but that’s hardly reassurance when mortgages, bills, and childcare don’t go on pause. The city of Atlanta is stepping in to provide at least a little relief, offering free parking and two meal vouchers per shift to full time TSA employees at the airport. Fulton Democrat supports GOP Commission candidate
The largest county in Georgia is Fulton and its outgoing County Commission chairman is Democrat Robb Pitts. Is he supporting another Democrat running for the Commission? No. He’s openly supporting the re-election of Republican Bridget Thorne and calls her opponent Maggie Goldman “a nut case and would be a disaster.” Pitts says, “If you want your taxes steady or lower, you have to vote for Bridget Thorne… (Goldman) would raise your taxes– residential and commercial.” He concludes that “it’s OK” that Thorne is a Republican “because we work for the benefit of all the citizens Fulton County.” Thorne’s re-election chances are RISING….
