There is a bipartisan, loose knit “election integrity” coalition that has become vocal since the 2020 elections, and it was shocked on Wednesday when Judge Shukura Ingram suddenly cancelled a Fulton County ballot video hearing less than 24 hours before she scheduled it to take place. The hearing on a case she held for over a year was set last Friday morning-- less than two days after President Donald Trump publicly stated Fulton County’s 2020 votes still must be reviewed..
The case alleges that the Fulton County Clerk Che Alexander failed to fulfill 2024 Open Records Requests (ORR) filed by Garland Favorito of the non-partisan VoterGA organization. He simply seeks to obtain a copy of Fulton County 2020 ballots. And it’s significant that the ballots were unsealed by court order in 2021. Georgia’s 2-year sealing requirement under O.C.G.A. § 21-2-500 expired in 2022. And the General Assembly passed SB189 legislation in 2024 to continually make ballots public records subject to ORRs.
