It’s been almost 20 years since Georgia Democrats won a statewide, non-federal office. But Tuesday, Democrats Peter Hubbard and Alicia Johnson defeated Republican incumbents Tim Echols and Fitz Johnson for seats on the state’s Public Service Commission.

Wednesday, party leaders for both the Republicans and Democrats reacted to results of the unique statewide race that just happened to be held on the same day as municipal elections across the state.
