The federal government shutdown entered its 37th full day on Thursday, which officially makes it the longest in U.S. history. President Donald Trump has renewed his calls to end the shutdown by getting rid of the Senate filibuster and lowering the threshold to 51 votes for legislation. He says Democrats have been using the filibuster as leverage as they demand an extension of expiring health care subsidies as part of a bill to fund the government.

Georgia Republican Congressman Buddy Carter is strongly supporting Trump’s call to eliminate the Senate filibuster and called on Republicans to find their backbone and stand with the President.
