Today is Veterans Day, and across the nation people are celebrating all who have served in the U.S. military, living and deceased. Middle Georgia, home to Robins Air Force Base, is no exception, with a full slate of events to mark the holiday. Over the weekend Middle Georgia State University hosted the Cherry Blossom 5K, with proceeds going to the Georgia Department of Veterans Service Foundation. Today Macon will hold its annual Veterans Day Parade through downtown, and later in the day will see a full Veterans Day program and flag retirement ceremony. Also of note – Georgia veterans have the opportunity to get in on duck season early on November 15/16th, per the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Duck season officially opens statewide on November 22nd.
