Georgia boasts the nation's 5th largest active-duty military population, and state officials have continually stressed their commitment to being one of the nation's most military-friendly states. Tuesday, as Georgians honored the service and sacrifice of veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families, Lt. Governor Burt Jones recognized “the outstanding work of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service (GDVS) under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. Patricia “Trish” Ross.”

“Georgia is proud to be home to more than one million veterans and military families,” said Jones. “These men and women represent the best of our state and our nation. Their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten and will always be appreciated. I’m proud that Georgia continues to lead the way in connecting veterans and their families with the care and resources they’ve earned. Thanks to Commissioner Ross and her dedicated team, thousands of Georgians have received meaningful support that honors their service.”
