Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, running for governor in 2026, notched a noteworthy legal win against Attorney General Chris Carr, one of his Republican rivals in that race. Carr’s camp asked the State Ethics Commission to rule on whether “leadership committees” for candidates were allowed to accept loans. As lt. governor, Jones loaned his own leadership committee $10M when he entered the race this summer. Carr joins LSU football fight
In the South, college football is religion – and now it’s politics too. Members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) are furious with LSU over its attempts to sign players already in the NFL to come back to college to play for the Tigers. On Wednesday, Attorney General Chris Carr, (presumably at the behest of some big names at UGA) urged the SEC to take “all measures available” against LSU.
