Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, running for governor in 2026, notched a noteworthy legal win against Attorney General Chris Carr, one of his Republican rivals in that race. Carr’s camp asked the State Ethics Commission to rule on whether “leadership committees” for candidates were allowed to accept loans. As lt. governor, Jones loaned his own leadership committee $10M when he entered the race this summer. Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop. But now the Atlanta City Council is pushing back, with 11 councilmembers, led by Atlanta City Councilwoman Kelsea Bond signing onto a resolution signaling support for the idea.
