Members of the Senate and House education committees met in a joint session recently to look at the K-12 education workforce, including the teacher and school leader pipeline. Sen. Billy Hickman, R–Statesboro, chairman of the Senate Committee on Education and Youth, led the joint meeting alongside the House Committee on Education to hear the progress on Senate Resolution 237.

The resolution, which was sponsored by Hickman during the 2025 Legislative Session, urges the Professional Standards Commission to provide recommendations to the workforce pipeline. The committee is also examining the state’s literacy programs.
