This news may either fascinate or repulse you, depending on how you feel about snakes, but Georgia is home to one of the most serpent-infested state parks in the United States, per a report from WorldAtlasSkidaway Island State Park, near Savannah, is comprised of “maritime forest, salt flats, and freshwater sloughs” that make a perfect home for dozens of species of snakes, as well as the small mammals, frogs and lizards they call lunch.  From venomous creatures like eastern diamondback rattlesnakes or copperheads to their less dangerous relatives such as black racers and corn snakes, the island’s temperate, tidal terrain makes for a perfect home for snakes, scientists who study them, and visitors interested in them.  If you’re not so fond of our slithering friends, perhaps Savannah’s nearby historic squares and Southern dining are more your speed.
