Last week Gainesville High School was leading Brunswick 42-0 in the second round of the state playoffs when a brawl broke out – instigated by a Brunswick player. After the benches cleared and the dust settled, the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) suspended 35 Gainesville players and 41 Brunswick players. But Gainesville has to play top-ranked Langston Hughes this Friday – and furiously appealed the decision to GHSA, claiming their players were only protecting themselves and that they’ll consider all legal options to try and get their players reinstated before the big game.
