A new report from Propel ATL shows that the city of Atlanta saw more traffic-related deaths than homicides last year. In 2024 Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties, Atlanta’s ‘inner ring,’ saw 410 homicides, but 425 traffic fatalities. The group says that while both totals are tragic, traffic issues are easier to solve. Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop.
