Sunday marked Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day across the U.S., with ceremonies of remembrance on the anniversary of the deadly attack that drew America into World War II. Here in Georgia more than 75 people gathered at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, located near the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, to mark the occasion and remember those who lost their lives, and those veterans who survived the attack and are still alive – only 12 in total now, all centenarians. The Eighth Air Force was a long-range bomber force that operated out of the former Savannah Army Air Base, a pivotal military site during the Second World War.
