A House study committee looking at ways to modernize the state’s emergency communications system and ensure reliable 9-1-1 service for every community in the state has issued its final report. According to the report, the priorities of the committee are to ensure that the monthly 9-1-1 fee does not exceed $1.50 and that all 9-1-1 revenue goes toward the operation and improvement of emergency services.

The committee also recommends investing in current and future technological infrastructure to maintain the highest level of service for Next Generation 9-1-1 and to ensure continued discussion and study of this vital piece of Georgia’s public safety.
