There was no upset Tuesday in the special election runoff for a Cherokee County state House seat, as Republican Bill Fincher defeated Democrat Scott Sanders by more than 40 points. Fincher will fill the seat of former state Rep. Mandi Ballinger, who passed away last year. Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop.
