The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) is the non-profit organization that serves as the professional association of the United States Army. Led by retired General Robert Brooks Brown, the AUSA works to support its members through education and connection, as well as well as informing national leaders and advocating for the nation’s largest branch. In the case of the U.S. Military, where it can be difficult for “employees” to raise questions or inquire about certain things, an organization like AUSA serves as a critical partner in their well-being and support.
Every year, the AUSA bestows a Legislator of the Year award, and this year’s winner is U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop, D-GA , as well as U.S. Rep. John Carter, R-TX. The award is presented to members of Congress who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the Army and work to advance policies that strengthen national defense.
