Newly-elected Atlanta City Council President Marci Collier Overstreet has only just started her first term, but she’s already made a major misstep. Overstreet assigned eight members to both the Community Development/Human Services Committee and to the Committee on Council – but committees are only allowed to have seven members (to prevent pesky ties, AND because eight members is a majority of the 15-member full City Council, which would create a quorum and open up a totally new can of worms). Overstreet walked the move back, reducing the committees to the typical seven members, but said she wants to introduce legislation to bump committees to eight members later this year, leaving the start to her tenure SINKING…
Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?
Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger. In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities. Gov.
