Georgia top national leader in illegal alien arrests

The Deportation Data Project at University of California-Berkeley is collecting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) data it receives from a recurring open record request. The numbers reveal that, of the top 10 U.S. states for raw numbers of illegal immigration arrests, Georgia ranks No. 4 behind Texas, Florida and California.   

One reason is the Trump administration’s ICE crackdown after four years of open borders during the Biden administration. Trump border czar Tom Homan told this writer in late 2024 that Georgia would be a priority because of left-wing sanctuary jurisdictions where thousands of foreign criminals and especially brutal gang members (like the one who mutilated and killed student Laken Riley in Athens last year) thought they were untouchable.
