The Senate is moving forward on tax reform. Members of the Senate Finance Committee passed four tax bills Monday – including two much-anticipated tax cut proposals sponsored by Sen. Blake Tillery, R-Vidalia that are unanimously backed by the Senate Republican Caucus. According to Tillery the bills will provide “real tax relief “and position Georgia to fully eliminate the state income tax over the coming years.
Senate Bills 476 and 477 passed out of committee 9-3 along party lines. The Senate committee also gave a Do-Pass to two House Bills – HB 134 and HB 463. Wording from SB 476 will be added to House companion bill 134, and wording from SB 477 will be added to HB 463.
“This demonstrates that the Senate recognizes that the tax relief bills need to originate in the House,” said Tillery.
