Last December’s announcement that Atlanta Public Schools would close or repurpose more than a dozen schools raised eyebrows, but not as many as this month’s news that DeKalb County will close over TWO dozen.  It mirrors a national trend of a major decline in public school enrollment.  Many students never returned to school after COVID, while home schooling and private schools have become more popular as well.  And then of course, the birthrate is declining nationally, leaving the future of public school enrollment SINKING…
