Georgia House Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones announced Thursday that she will not seek reelection in November, marking the end of one of the most accomplished tenures in state history. The eight-term Republican was the first woman to be speaker pro tem and GOP majority whip, as well as the first female House Speaker when she briefly served after the death of David Ralston. Carr joins LSU football fight
In the South, college football is religion – and now it’s politics too. Members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) are furious with LSU over its attempts to sign players already in the NFL to come back to college to play for the Tigers. On Wednesday, Attorney General Chris Carr, (presumably at the behest of some big names at UGA) urged the SEC to take “all measures available” against LSU. Thursday, the league heeded that advice, suing LSU Head Coach Lane Kiffin. The legal quagmire pitting the conference against itself has LSU SINKING…
