Amidst all the alarming headlines of today it may be easy to overlook the fact that U.S. Postmaster General David Steiner testified to the U.S. House Oversight Committee that the U.S. Post Office is in a funding crisis and “will be out of cash in less than 12 months.” U.S. Rep. Brian Jack, a member of the committee, questioned Steiner about some of the issues facing USPS as well as problems with some of the post offices in his own district. Questions linger over Atlanta City Hall investigation
An ongoing investigation into former Atlanta Municipal Clerk Foris Webb III is hitting roadblocks, as city employees are delaying or rejecting interviews by the inspector general. Webb received more than $900,000 in consulting fees from the city for his “work” on a referendum meant to block the city’s law enforcement training center, dubbed “Cop City.” That referendum got held up in court, never wound up doing anything, and the center was built, but Webb continued to cash a $35,000 check each month.
