Amidst all the alarming headlines of today it may be easy to overlook the fact that U.S. Postmaster General David Steiner testified to the U.S. House Oversight Committee that the U.S. Post Office is in a funding crisis and “will be out of cash in less than 12 months.” U.S. Rep. Brian Jack, a member of the committee, questioned Steiner about some of the issues facing USPS as well as problems with some of the post offices in his own district. Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop. But now the Atlanta City Council is pushing back, with 11 councilmembers, led by Atlanta City Councilwoman Kelsea Bond signing onto a resolution signaling support for the idea.
