Last week, the Home Depot Foundation celebrated its surpassing of $1 billion in charitable giving. Home Depot has a long history of community impact, going back to when Team Depot, the associate volunteer program, was established in 1993. The Home Depot Foundation came along a few years later in 2002. Since 2011, Team Depot has been very busy, average 150 projects a month – 5 a day.

“Our culture of giving starts from within. We begin by taking care of our own through The Homer Fund,” said the Fondation in a statement. ”Since 1999, The Homer Fund has provided nearly $300 million in assistance to over 200,000 Home Depot families, helping our people through their most difficult moments—from disasters and illnesses to house fires and unexpected car repairs.”
