For most Americans, Masters Week is a time to maybe pull up a sneaky computer tab on Thursday or Friday, and block off Sunday afternoon for some prime golf watching. But for Augusta residents it’s the biggest week of the year. From florists, to caterers, to ride share drivers and rental companies, the Garden City is never more bustling than when the world’s top golf pros, the media who covers them and hundreds of thousands of fans arrive in town. The Masters’ economic impact on Augusta is estimated at around $120 million, and Richmond County collects $1.4 million in hotel-motel tax in the month of April, more than three times higher than an average month.
